{"id":4,"date":"2006-10-10T02:48:51","date_gmt":"2006-10-10T07:48:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sacredtriskele.net\/content\/?page_id=4"},"modified":"2011-11-24T05:07:09","modified_gmt":"2011-11-24T11:07:09","slug":"site-dedication","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/sacredtriskele.net\/?page_id=4","title":{"rendered":"&#8211; Site Dedication"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><center>For All Those Who Died<\/p>\n<p><em>Copyright \u00a9 1981 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ericajong.com\/\">Erica Mann Jong<\/a><br \/>All rights reserved.<br \/>Used with permission from the poet.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\nFor all those who died \u2013<br \/>\nstripped naked, shaved, shorn.<\/p>\n<p>For all those who screamed<br \/>\nin vain to the great Goddess<br \/>\nonly to have their tongues<br \/>\nripped out by the root.<\/p>\n<p>For those who were pricked, racked, broken on the wheel<br \/>\nfor the sins of their Inquisitors.<\/p>\n<p>For all those whose beauty<br \/>\nstirred their torturers to fury;<br \/>\n&#038; for those whose ugliness did the same.<\/p>\n<p>For all those who were neither ugly nor beautiful,<br \/>\nbut only women who would not submit.<\/p>\n<p>For all those quick fingers<br \/>\nbroken in the vise.<\/p>\n<p>For all those soft arms<br \/>\npulled from their sockets.<\/p>\n<p>For all those budding breasts<br \/>\nripped with hot pincers.<\/p>\n<p>For all those midwives killed merely for the sin<br \/>\nof delivering man<br \/>\nto an imperfect world.<\/p>\n<p>For all those witch-women, my sisters,<br \/>\nwho breathed freer<br \/>\n as the flames took them,<\/p>\n<p>knowing as they shed<br \/>\ntheir female bodies,<br \/>\nthe seared flesh falling like fruit<br \/>\nin the flames,<\/p>\n<p>that death alone would cleanse them<br \/>\nof the sin for which they died<\/p>\n<p>the sin of being born a woman,<br \/>\nwho is more than the sum<br \/>\nof her parts.\n<\/p>\n<p><\/center><\/p>\n<p>(My apologies to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ericajong.com\/\">Ms. Jong<\/a>, this dedication was in place on the website for so many years and I did in fact believe that it was anonymous.
