Hear now the words of the witches,
\nThe secrets we hid in the night,
\nWhen dark was our destiny’s pathway,
\nThat now we bring forth into light.<\/p>\n

Mysterious water and fire,
\nThe earth and the wide-ranging air,
\nBy hidden quintessence we know them,
\nAnd will and keep silent and dare.<\/p>\n

The birth and rebirth of all nature,
\nThe passing of winter and spring,
\nWe share with the life universal,
\nRejoice in the magical ring.<\/p>\n

Four times in the year the Great Sabbat
\nReturns, and the witches are seen
\nAt Lammas and Candlemas dancing,
\nOn May Eve and old Hallowe’en.<\/p>\n

When day-time and night-time are equal,
\nWhen sun is at greatest and least,
\nThe four Lesser Sabbats are summoned,
\nAnd Witches gather in feast.<\/p>\n

Thirteen silver moons in a year are,
\nThirteen is the coven’s array.
\nThirteen times at Esbat make merry,
\nFor each golden year and a day.<\/p>\n

The power that was passed down the age,
\nEach time between woman and man,
\nEach century unto the other,
\nEre time and the ages began.<\/p>\n

When drawn is the magical circle,
\nBy sword or athame of power,
\nIts compass between two worlds lies,
\nIn land of the shades for that hour.<\/p>\n


\nThis world has no right then to know it,
\nAnd world of beyond will tell naught.
\nThe oldest of Gods are invoked there,
\nThe Great Work of magic is wrought.<\/p>\n

For the two are mystical pillars,
\nThat stand at the gate of the shrine,
\nAnd two are the powers of nature,
\nThe forms and the forces divine.<\/p>\n

The dark and the light in succession,
\nThe opposites each unto each,
\nShown forth as a God and a Goddess:
\nOf this our ancestors teach.<\/p>\n

By night he’s the wild wind’s rider,
\nThe Horn’d One, the Lord of the Shades.
\nBy day he’s the King of the Woodland,
\nThe dweller in green forest glades.<\/p>\n

She is youthful or old as she pleases,
\nShe sails the torn clouds in her barque,
\nThe bright silver lady of midnight,
\nThe crone who weaves spells in the dark.<\/p>\n

The master and mistress of magic,
\nThat dwell in the deeps of the mind,
\nImmortal and ever-renewing,
\nWith power to free or to bind.<\/p>\n

So drink the good wine to the Old Gods,
\nAnd Dance and make love in their praise,
\nTill Elphame’s fair land shall receive us
\nIn peace at the end of our days.<\/p>\n

And Do What You Will be the challenge,
\nSo be it Love that harms none,
\nFor this is the only commandment.
