16 Years

You’d be driving the car.

You’d be going on dates.

You’d be making my hair greyer than it already is.

You’d be playing ball, just like your little sisters. Or, maybe you’d be cheering them on. Maybe you’d be more bookish and nerdy than athletic and geeky.

You’d be almost grown up today.

Sweet sixteen. Happy birthday, babies mine. I love you, still.

YES! And they’re on a roll…

Just a quick note, because I’m supposed to be working on a crit, a first read and a merge.

The girls played their third game tonight, and won – I’m not entirely sure on the score, but if I’m wrong, I’ll come in and change it. I believe it was 16-5. It could have been 15-4. *shrug*

They’re on a roll and I think they’re likin’ it. :)

Anyone needing some corruption of their fine and delicate souls, should hop over to jodilee.ca for a link to a twisty little game. Kinda fun!

And again…

The girls played again last night, and this time the score was a bit more outrageous. 34-5 for us.

Little E. was back (we thought she’d quit, but there she was…) and there is no jumping back from the pitch this year. I can’t remember if I’d mentioned how she is the youngest and smallest on the team last year? Anyway, she’d been hit pretty bad the first year she played, and last year she got nailed HARD the first game out, then again at our first away game. I mean, for tiny, this girl had a target or something. It got to the point where she was jumping back, away from the plate, every pitch. Not last night. She nailed that ball each time she was at bat, and that last time she nailed it hard enough to send it flying out into center field… way the hell and gone past the fielder. E. is speedy, too – she rounded those bases faster than a rabbit running from a car.

Sid was hitting ‘em all over, too. It’s so very cool to see the girls that weren’t such great batters before step up and get that confidence… get that oomph that gets the balls out there.

Rhia struck out a couple times, but did get a walk that ended in a run. She rarely ever gets to run her own bases, considering her gait sucks and she’s prone to tripping over air (still though, this is the kid they told me would never walk, let alone run) so even for safety she’s often got a runner. The look on her face when she stepped on the plate as the ball went across in front of her was priceless. Care didn’t do too bad in the batting area either, and I think she made it in to home a couple times. I know she brought a few runs in, and managed to get to first before three outs or seven runs. She always gets stuck on first…LOL

Care played in four different positions last night, and I think she’d like to take one on permanently. Backcatcher. It’s weird, because she’s always only ever expressed an interest in second, outside of right field. But, if her hips can hold out, I think she could do good (with a lot of practice) in the ‘catchers place. And right now, C.A. is the only other catcher the team has, since N. decided to stick to first.

Hmmm. Yeah, could work. She’ll have to practice her ass off though.

One more game this week, then a nice relaxing long weekend, with a possible practice on Sunday.

I’m still a bit flanked by the score though – 34-5. They just had no chance against our girls!
